Jennifer M. deGraauw

Jennifer M. deGraauw was raised in Kansas and attended the University of Kansas where she received a Bachelor of Science in Business with an emphasis in Accounting. Jennifer started law school at the Tulane Law School in New Orleans, Louisiana. However, in August of 2005 Hurricane Katrina hit the City and Jennifer transferred to the University of New Mexico School of Law where she graduated in 2007. During Jennifer’s time at Tulane Law School she served as a member of the Environmental Law Journal and was a member of the Business Law Society. Additionally, she was a member of the Faculty Selection Committee for the Student Bar Association. Jennifer was equally involved at the University of New Mexico School of Law and received the Dean’s Award for Outstanding Contribution to the Law School, was a board member of the Federalist Society, was a member of the Women’s Law Caucus and was on the Dean’s List.
Jennifer brings an array of experience to the firm. Before graduating from law school, Jennifer served as an Extern with the New Mexico Court of Appeals and also as a clerk with Legal Aid in Portland, Oregon where she advocated for victims of domestic violence in pending family law cases. While attending law school Jennifer found interest in family law and clerked with several family law offices in Albuquerque. Upon her graduation, Jennifer began practicing family law and now focuses on complex family law issues including business valuation, property division, spousal support, child custody, child support and prenuptial agreements.
Jennifer is also a trained collaborative attorney and remains involved in collaborative organizations in the State of New Mexico. She is currently a member of the New Mexico Collaborative Practice Group and will serve as a Board Member in 2012. Jennifer is also a member of the Albuquerque Collaborative Practice Group and the Albuquerque Ristra Collaborative Pod. From 2008-2010 Jennifer served the Young Lawyers Division as a member of the Children’s Law Board. Jennifer is also a member of the New Mexico Bar Association and the Albuquerque Bar Association.
Jennifer spends time giving back to the community by volunteering with Road Runner Food Bank and Catholic Charities.
